About this Speaker

Michael J. Mann spent 20 years working as a teacher, principal, district operations leader, and the founder of two after school programs for vulnerable young people. Currently, he is an associate professor at Boise State University, where he teaches and conducts research focused on promoting child and adolescent health and wellbeing, especially in schools. His research focuses on integrating student health promotion into the fabric of the public school experience and the role of education as a social determinant of health. Michael is also a member of the American School Health Association’s national Board of Directors, Chair of the Editorial Board for the Journal of School Health, a member of the National Committee on Future of School Health Education, and a school-community development specialist for the Icelandic Centre for Social Research and Analysis’ Planet Youth Initiative.
